“The future of coding is no coding at all,”
says Chris Wanstrath, CEO at GitHub.
Essentially, when you build with a no-code platform you are building with code, it’s just hidden (so you don’t have to write it!). Today, by combining Google Sheet with a service called Sheet2Site, someone with no coding capability can create an entire website, backed by a spreadsheet.
A no-code platform is made from the following key ingredients and features:
- User Interface Builder … Or Selector. Pick an interface or template that suits your business need. You can build each page for your application and then connect them with each other. Easy peasy?
- Data modelling. Great, now I have a beautiful application that practically does nothing. Well, most NoCode platforms today come with data modelling feature that allows you to either connect to your data source or help you visually build on from scratch.
- Reusability. Everything is a building block. See that button, just put it as many pages you need them on and tell them what to do. Small parts (components) of an application can be reused in new pages or applications. Fast development is great, not developing at all is even better.
- Integrations. It’s painful to build something again when you already have your workflow built on different platform. Need new signups to create contact on Hubspot? Send welcome email to new onboarded users? Just plug your existing tools and you’re all set to go.
